the opium war

What happened during the opium wars?

pium was a very addicting drug kind of thing that the Chinese used to heal pain and diarrhea and the British found that giving opium to the Chinese was their only way to open a trade connection with china. But this opium which they got from India wasn't so original in fact it made the Chinese people very lazy and they couldn't meet their expectations then soon they were addicted to this drug. During the Opium War china battled with Britain because the Chinese emperor ordered Britain to stop trading and selling opium to the Chinese citizens. Since the British didn't want to stop , that's when the war broke out. The war broke out on sea. Eventually china was no match for Britain. The British had vast steam operated ships and rifles that the Chinese couldn't get close to.The Chinese had Boats that were old and not as much modernized a the British so the British ended up beating china.

The Scramble for Africa

The term Scrabble for Africa meant how European countries , Spain, Germany, Italy, were so obsessed with the new land that everybody anted Africa for their resources. They were all competing for resources. There resources were gold, wood, rubber, iron, tin, diamond, silver, copper. They were able to dominate Africa because they just inventedthe machine gun and they also found the cure for malaria. With the cure of malaria they were able to go to the jungles and not die of the mosquitoes bites. This Scrabble affected the African people because the whites thought that they dominated the country and that they were the first race and the best race. They took advantage of the African people and made them into slaves. The Europeans killed thousands of Africans and separated people within their tribes leading to also separation of families.

The meiji restoration of japan

I think Matthew perry bullied the Japanese by dropping of 26 anchors of the coast of edo Tokyo the capital of the country,it also states that perry wanted to intimidate the Japanese so he brought ships to the port where the Japanese were located.but on march 31 the treaty was signed by japan to open two ports for the U.S.
The thing that i think the japaneses was so imprssed by was that matthew perry brought a naval force to make the japanese sign the treaty.
the japanese observed European countries and the way they were run. Japan sent many people to the West to study the way countries were run. For example, Japanese men studied the German Constitution.

NATIONALISM AND THE CREATION OF ITALY

definition: the definition of nationalism is devotion and loyalty to ones own nation.i am nationalistic because every morning i do the pledge of allegiance, and also i celebrated the holidays.the thing that i do to show im nationlistic is that i stand up to for my country.
I think nationalism was uesd to create itlay by a new set of people or a geberatiojn came and took over itlay.it was like the new society tasken over the old societyy.a whole new group of people.itlay was a state before it became itlay.they had a flag that was red white green and had a symbol in it now it is just rew white and green.

simon bolivia and latin americans revolut

The thing that Bolivia accomplished was that he helped out the Spanish to get Spain out of south America and he did just that by defeating them in a war.The reason why he is so famous is because he helped out south America they let him be the new president because he did such a good job.The reason there is a country named after him is because when he was planning an attack with Sucre they accomplished what they wanted to do and then Sucre destroyed the last of the Spanish Army and now they cant come back to the south America. So than Sucre called the congress of upper Peru and which he created the republic of Bolivia, which was relating to him.The army that Bolivioa defeated was the Spanish army.He did that because they were trying to take of south America so him and some guy named Sucre stopped them from destroying south America.

Scitentific revolution:scientific method`

Scientists started to experiment. A Great example "Aristotle had a theory that heavy objects fell faster than lighter objects. And for about 1,500 years, people believed him. Well, in the late 1500’s a young Italian named Galileo tested this theory. According to legend, he went up to the Leaning Tower of Pisa and dropped stones of different weights to the ground". He proved the Aristotle was wrong and found what we know today objects of different weights fall at the same speed.

"I. The scientific method has four steps

1. Observation and description of a phenomenon or group of phenomena.

2. Formulation of an hypothesis to explain the phenomena. In physics, the hypothesis often takes the form of a causal mechanism or a mathematical relation.

3. Use of the hypothesis to predict the existence of other phenomena, or to predict quantitatively the results of new observations.

4. Performance of experimental tests of the predictions by several independent experimenters and properly performed experiments."
